No, I'm not dead I've been busy with work and all that other crap. Let's just get to the good stuff…

Well, it's my first venture into the QuickTakes and hopefully it won't be my last. And I finally got around to buying a PS2, so lets continue…

Status: Beat it with Ghost and Niobe

You have to play this game to understand the story right? I saw the movie and beat the game and I still don't understand a lot of stuff. While the movie follows Neo, the game shows you what Niobe and Ghost were doing. The two just don't seem to connect, but that's just me. Graphically the game shoots almost par. The character models are fair, but the rest of everything is not to good (a doorknob is a hexagon). But lets look at what really counts. The gameplay is pretty good. Although the control scheme is kinda weird (Y to shoot?) it's easy to pick up.

Now, on to focus. If you read any article about EtM you probably heard about focus. Basically it's the power you have to pull off those cool choreographed moves. Everything slows down and the screen turns a green tint. While using focus you can perform super human moves like long jumps and skull-cracking kicks and punches, lets not forget flips. But, the game seems kinda easy. If the game's on hard you get a lot of fairly easy to kill enemies. I would've liked one hard hand-to-hand enemy. That would be fun. It also seemed kinda short. One real downside is the short levels (some of them are seriously only one room). If you're a serious fan go and buy this game. If you're just a regular gamer, rent it.

Okay, now for a treat. I'm going to teach you a cool move. If you want to figure out all of the moves just scroll down to the next game. Any ways, find an enemy and engage the fight camera, you'll know because it'll orbit around you two. Get within striking range and press the shoot button. If you have a weapon that requires two hands you'll kick them in the air and shoot 'em. If you have a pistol you'll shove it in their gut and fire once or twice and push them away...cool

Overall I give it a 7.55 its okay but it has room to improve. If there's another one I'm sure it will be better.

Status: Beat both chapters on normal and about 60% complete on the extras

First of all I didn't really want this game because the original one was twenty bucks and this one was full price, but Best Buy didn't have it in stock. Substance is just Sons of Liberty with extras. I'm gonna review the actual game first. The character models are pretty good but everything else is pretty bad, there are no round objects in this game. But I'm willing to sacrifice graphics for good gameplay. This game is extremely interactive. Wet footprints, trails of blood, and noises are just some of the things that will cause the guards to investigate. The guards are investigative but not smart (its hard to explain). In a lot of reviews people say that you can either sneak around or blast your way through. I don't know what game they're playing. Here's how it goes, if you sneak you can get around with no problems. But if you come in with guns a blazin' you alert the enemy which prompts them to call for backup. Enemies keep coming until you hide (which is sneaking) or go down in a hail of gunfire. Back to the interactivity. You can do pretty much anything in the game that you could in real life. Mirrors will frost over if you spray them with coolant, magazines shred apart when you shoot them, characters breath will fog up your lens, It's all great. The game's actually really fun. There's also a feature where you can hold up guards and steal they're dog tags. After getting X many dog tags you get special items like invisibility (real fun to mess with the guards).

Overall a great game. It gets a 9.25

Now lets do the extras. There's VR missions which are in virtual reality, Alternative Missions that take place in real life, Snake Tales that give you more action as Snake, and Skateboarding. The VR and Alternative Missions are pretty much the same, but they're fun to play. The Snake Tales are kinda like fan-fics that made it into the game. You play as Snake but all of the cutscenes are in words. Skateboarding is just plain terrible.

It gets a 7.5. So in conclusion unless you're crazy about MGS buy Sons of Liberty and save yourself 30 bucks.

(Sons of Liberty) 9.25 10
(Substance) 7.5 10

Status: Beat the game on Normal 70.1% of souls

The newest Castlevania is on the GBA. This could be the best Castlevania ever. It has great graphics to be on the GBA and the animation is real smooth. This game takes place in the future and doesn't star the Belmonts. It's the regular side-scrolling adventure we've all come to know and love. But you have the cool ability to take the souls of enemies. It is a small chance but it happens (you can also get items to help you). Although you don't get a whip you can get some cool items. This game is really fun, go out and buy it now.

It gets a 9.75
